7 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Your Man

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Regardless of how well you know him, finding your man the perfect gift can sometimes feel daunting. If you dread thinking about having to get him something for Valentine’s Day, take a breath. Remember that Valentine’s Day is just an opportunity to celebrate your connection and show him how much you love and appreciate him. Finding a gift he will actually like can be a scary feat, but with some thoughtful consideration and a touch of creativity, there are lots of options to help make this valentine’s day a memorable one.

With only 7 days left until Valentine’s Day, I’ve detailed 7 gift ideas to get those creative juices flowing to help you find the perfect gift for the guy in your life.

1. New Game for His Console

If your man is a gamer, you can’t go wrong with a new game for his go-to game console. Make this a fun date night by choosing a game you can play along with him. Even if you aren’t a gamer yourself, there are games for every console specifically targeting beginners. Basically, anything by Nintendo will be a great option to start with if you aren’t a gamer. My personal favorites are Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, and Super Mario Party, which is basically a virtual board game with minigames. Another great option is Overcooked! 2, which will test your communication skills, teamwork and maybe his patience. This is a fun, light option to connect with him and get involved in his interests.

2. Noise Cancelling Headphones

If he doesn’t have a pair yet, you can’t go wrong with a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. The world we live in today is full of noise and distractions, to the point where finding some peace or room to focus can seem impossible. Being able to find some space, unwind and recharge, even if it is just in his head, can do wonders for mental health. So, whether he could use some focus time or even if he just wants to listen to his music much too loud, these headphones are a great option to block out the outside world, while not disturbing the peace around him.

3. Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a great gift option for two reasons. First, they are a practical gift he will use often. Second, there are so many different options available that you can still customize the gift to his personality. Sunglasses are made for style, use or both. For example, specific sunglasses are available for guys who are active, even by specific hobbies like golfing or fishing. Safety sunglasses are available for those who may work dangerous jobs. And of course, some sunglasses are just made for personal style. With all the options available, you are sure to find a pair that aligns to your man’s personality, style and interests.

4. His Favorite Drink & Accessories

When they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, I think we sometimes forget that drinks go through their stomach too! If your man has a specific drink he prefers, finding accessories that will elevate that experience is a great gift option. For example, if your guy loves cold beer, a shower beer holder or insulated can cooler are good options. If your guy prefers liquor, a nice set of low ball glasses or decanter may be a better choice. If your guy needs to drink more water, consider getting him a new water bottle to help him stay hydrated. By focusing on his favorite drink, you can find products that seamlessly elevate a consumable gift.

5. Coffee Accessories

If your man starts every day with a cup of coffee, it is likely that there are gift options he will love and use all the time. Have you ever taken a swig of cold coffee that supposed to be hot but isn’t? It’s awful. That’s why a good quality coffee tumbler can make a huge difference by keeping coffee hot when on the go. If he has to-go cups that have seen better days, or ones that he actively avoids using (declutter alert), he likely could use another or an upgrade. If your Valentine is more of a mug guy, never let his coffee go cold again with a tabletop coffee warmer or a temperature control mug. If coffee is something he drinks every day, find the item you could refresh, upgrade or add to make his coffee experience more enjoyable.

6. A New Signature Cologne

Cologne is a classic Valentine’s Day gift for a reason. There is something innately intimate about choosing a signature scent for your significant other, as fragrance has the power to evoke memories, emotions, and even enhance attraction.  Cologne is kind of a gift for both him and you, because you both win when your man smells scrumptious. I recommend going to a store that has testers and finding the one you think best matches your man’s vibe. Take your time trying different fragrances, considering how they work (or don’t work) with his natural scent and style, and choosing a cologne that resonates with how you perceive him.

7. Comfortable Hoodie, Sweatpants and Slippers

What do love and a good pair of sweatpants have in common? They both give you that warm, fuzzy feeling. Seriously, don’t overlook the power of a great pair of sweats. Hoodies, sweatpants, even slippers, are all staples to be comfortable while lounging around the house. These items get used and abused, and worn out. While some might claim they get more comfortable as they get “broken in,” there comes a time when they need to be replaced and men typically don’t recognize that time. If your man is walking around in warn out sweats, or could use another pair in his rotation, wrap him in comfort this Valentine’s Day.

If you didn’t find what you were looking for on this list, I encourage you to focus on the things your guy uses regularly, the hobbies he spends his time on, and the interests he talks about. By focusing on their habits and routines, you’ll think of something they regularly use that could be upgraded, or something they don’t have yet that fits perfectly with their interests and hobbies. Focusing on these main items also will help you reconnect with your man by paying attention to the things that make him unique and special. Most importantly, remember that what makes a Valentine’s Day gift perfect isn’t the gift itself, but who it is coming from.
